He said 'I love you' for the first time last night and I panicked and said 'thanks'. Send help.

We've been dating 7 months, things are genuinely great, and the second he said it my brain just short circuited and "thanks" came out instead of literally anything else. He laughed it off but I feel awful. Do i bring it up again or just let the next natural moment happen on its own?

lmaooo i did something almost identical, said "you too" to my own name once by accident, were all disasters in the moment

bring it up, even just texting him something sweet today shows you care, dont just let it sit there awkwardly

honestly "thanks" is a top tier comedy bit for this situation, im sorry but i laughed out loud reading this

7 months and things are great, hes not going anywhere over one flustered response, dont spiral about it

my partner said it first too and i just stared at him for 10 full seconds before saying anything, panic brain is real

the silent stare is somehow worse than "thanks" honestly, at least you said something

do the thing where you say it unprompted later this week, its actually more romantic than a reactive response in the moment anyway

as a guy who said it first before, trust me we remember the laugh more fondly than the panic, hes probably charmed not hurt
