He said 'I love you' for the first time last night and I panicked and said 'thanks'. Send help.

We've been dating 5 months, things are genuinely great, and he finally said it last night in this really sweet moment and my brain just short circuited and I said THANKS like he complimented my haircut. He laughed it off but I feel awful. Do I bring it up again or let it go? How do I actually say it back now without it being weird 24 hours later?

lmaooo im sorry but this is hilarious, 'thanks' is such a universal panic response. bring it up, he'll probably think its endearing honestly

say something like 'hey about last night, i panicked but i feel it too' — simple, honest, doesnt need to be some big dramatic redo moment

this is good advice, dont overthink the delivery just be genuine

5 months is actually a pretty normal timeline for this btw, dont let the panic moment make you doubt the relationship itself

the fact that youre stressing about it so much is honestly a good sign that you actually care about getting this right

real, people who dont care dont spend time crafting the perfect way to say it back

dont wait too long to address it, a few days of silence on it can start feeling weightier than it needs to be

bring him his favorite snack or something small and just say it casually while doing something else, takes pressure off the moment
