Sora-style video models are good enough now that I can't tell real demo footage from fake anymore

Watched a product demo video yesterday and spent 10 minutes afterward trying to figure out if it was real screen recording or AI generated b-roll. We are genuinely past the uncanny valley for short clips now. What does this mean for stock footage, marketing teams, and more worryingly, scam/fraud videos?

stock footage industry is basically dead within 2 years at this rate, why pay licensing fees when you can generate exactly what you need

the scam potential is what keeps me up at night honestly, fake 'proof of life' videos or fabricated evidence videos are going to be a real problem fast

yep, provenance/watermarking standards need to move way faster than they currently are

marketing teams i know are already fully generating product demo b-roll instead of hiring videographers, cost savings are too big to ignore

c2pa content credentials are a good start but adoption across platforms is way too slow given how fast generation quality improved

still see artifacts in longer clips with complex physics, water and cloth sim specifically still give it away if you know what to look for

yeah but that gap is closing every single model release, give it a year

journalists are going to need entirely new verification workflows for video evidence, this isnt a someday problem its a now problem

honestly kind of exciting for small creators who couldnt afford production budgets before, theres an upside here too not just doom
