would absolutely not tell anyone and would quietly become the person who 'manages' the ai doing my job, same output less effort on my end until someone notices

honestly would ride it out while quietly upskilling into whatever the next adjacent role is loyalty doesnt pay my mortgage and companies wouldnt tell me in reverse either

depends entirely on the industry, in regulated fields someone still needs to be accountable even if ai does the actual work, thats not going away soon

this is a good point the liability layer might be the actual moat for a lot of white collar jobs not the task execution itself

ive literally been in this position (support role) and told my manager, got moved to a more strategic position instead of being let go. honesty actually worked out for me

the cynic in me says most companies already know and are just waiting for the org chart excuse to make the cut, so telling them changes nothing

would use the extra slack time to build something of my own on the side, if the job is basically automatable the free time is the real asset

this is such a loaded question because 'entire job' almost never happens all at once, its usually death by a thousand incremental automations and you adapt gradually

i work in a field (healthcare admin) where this already happened with a smaller tool a few years back, nobody got fired, they just gave us more volume to handle instead lol
