People who got divorced in their 20s after a short marriage — do you regret getting married that young, or just that specific marriage?

Talking with a friend going through this right now and it got me thinking. There's a difference between 'marriage itself was the mistake' vs 'this particular person/timing was the mistake'. For anyone who's been through an early divorce, which was it for you, and did it change how you think about commitment going forward, or just who you'd commit to?

married at 23, divorced at 26. 100% the person not the institution, i actually remarried a few years later and its been great

for me it was both honestly, i rushed into marriage bc it felt like the 'next step' everyone expected, not bc i actually wanted it with that urgency

this is so common, the social pressure timeline thing is real and nobody talks about it enough

no regrets on the marriage itself, learned a ton about myself that i wouldnt have learned just dating casually at that age

honestly? regret the marriage AND the person lol. 24 is just too young for most ppl to really know what they want long term, myself included

divorced at 25, biggest lesson was i confused compatibility as roommates/friends with actual romantic long term compatibility, two different things

my parents got married at 19 and are still together 30 yrs later so i dont think age alone is the predictor everyone says it is

survivorship bias maybe but also fair, some ppl just know early and some dont

financially it set me back years which nobody warns you about either, the divorce itself can cost as much as the wedding did lol
